Raffles, Giveaways, Sweepstakes - Are they worth it?

Raffles, Giveaways, Sweepstakes - Are they worth it?

Let’s talk raffles!

I love them. And, you guys enter them, so you must like them too.

Okay, so we all agree — we like raffles.

NOTE: About 200ish of the 600ish people who entered this last giveaway were repeat entrants from our past giveaway. That’s pretty f**ckin’ rad to me… thank you.

Preface: This is just my opinion. It's neither right, nor wrong. It's simply my opinion.

I respect the hustle and you'll see my name on plenty of lists.

I’m not saying anyone is right, or wrong. Some of those guys are my buddies and they run their raffles their own way. We simply offer a different product.

However, F**K those random fools who swoop a trashed ass bike off FB Marketplace and bolt up a road rash'd 2-1 pipe and some 12" Progressive shocks and try to get $20k — that shit is lame and it’s not what this is supposed to be about.

There’s no heart in that hustle. That’s one-sided and ruins it for everyone. Those dudes either keep that money, or refund it in a couple weeks. We should all stop buying into that BS.

If we’re talking about how I run DynaDealer giveaways, I think it’s worth mentioning that I have won a few raffles on IG myself.

I’ve had different experiences each time. Those experiences are the reason I do it this way.

Next… a few questions:

Q1) What’s in it for you? Is it worth it?

It's expensive to run a giveaway the way I do them... We're putting out bikes that have more than $20k into them....

People don't see the video production costs, FB ads, transportation fees, what it costs to pay people to create the content that you guys enjoy, apparel costs, taxes.

Everything I do is for the people who support me. Nobody wants to see the same sad ass picture of a bike with text over lay week after week.

Could I make more money putting out lower quality builds and cheapin' out on content? Absolutely. But this is a passion for me. I love what I do, and if I can support my family and put out a great product at the same time -- I'll do that until I die!

Q2) What are you really betting on when you enter a giveaway?

I think you’re betting on the guy running it. So, when you enter my giveaways you’re betting on ME.

A few things about me...

  • Integrity / honesty — I care more about putting out a solid bike (that you’ll love), than I do making money. Period.

I’d rather take an L than make a profit if it means sacrificing my integrity. This is my name and my reputation. It matters to me.

  • I favor a desirable model — Rare Harley’s, classic original paint, beautiful timeless motorcycles with OEM parts. FXRs and Dyna (T-SPORTs) are my focus. No crap, no clap.

  • I want you to get a quality build with NEW aftermarket parts — I don’t build my bikes with used parts.

That’s how I can ensure (to the best of my ability) that you are getting a solid used motorcycle. I replace broken OEM stuff, and refurbish obsolete parts. Motors get rebuilds. OEM transmissions get rebuilds, or replaced with new 6-speeds. Original paint gets restored. Powder, Polish, Paint. Repeat.

  • I use reputable professionals for jobs I am not qualified to do, and I pay top dollar to use trusted shops. That’s what I’d do for my bike, so that’s what I do for your bike if you’re getting it from me.

  • I am someone who enjoys doing this and is passionate. This is the guy you want to take your motorcycle to for repairs, right? Why? Because you know you’re getting quality and a job done right.

Q3) What are you really buying on when you enter a raffle? A sticker? A digital download? A t-shirt?

None of the above... I think you’re buying an opportunity. And it is my belief that the opportunity needs to be exceptional, and align with, or exceed your expectations.

Q4) What’s out there in the raffle space?

  • Raffles (limited entries) — capped at 100-200 spots, at a fixed $50 - $100 buy-in.

Best odds, but a lower quality / lower value prize.

  • Giveaways (start / end date) — No cap on entries. Usually has a lower buy-in price option, along with other price options to get more entries for increased odds.

Good odds, but a higher value / brand new prize.

  • Sweepstakes (start / end date) - No cap on entries. Offers thousands of entries per purchase. Typically has a multiplier 10X or 60X multiplier on entries with purchase.

Lowest odds, but they have a HUGE reward. They usually go for months and the company running it spends tens of thousands per day on ads.

To simplify, the above:

  • Raffle - Best odds = a lower end prize
  • Giveaway - Good odds = a high end prize
  • Sweepstakes - Lowest odds = a high end prize + cash

Personally, I can’t do capped raffles… that’s not my game.

Not with the level of bike I am building. My costs far exceeds the cost of a raffle bike.

The people who enter my giveaways seem to know that’s the trade off. Yes, they have slightly lower odds, but they have a better opportunity / reward with a lower buy-in option.

So, ask yourself. You've seen our bikes... Is it worth it to you? $25, $50, or $100 for an opportunity to own one?

Your girl spends more than that on Starbucks in a day!

Summary:

There are a lot of raffles out there with caps on entries, and better odds — you get what you pay for. I’ve seen some of those bikes… they’re FB Marketplace flips, built with used parts. You’ll end up spending $2500 right off the bat to fix your prize… or worse.

If that doesn’t matter to you, then put that cash on the table and let it ride, dog!

A $2,500 fix for a bike worth $9k is still a win to a lot of guys. Personally, I don't want another headache...

But, these are Harley’s we’re talking about… You’re winning a used 23-32 year old motorcycle.

Things will go wrong… unforeseen issues will arise. It’s your responsibility to understand and be aware of that.

I feel that it is my responsibility to ensure that those issues are avoided to the best of my ability by putting out a quality product.

Trust is important. If I put out a shitty bike and you lose trust in me, you never enter another giveaway. That’s a shitty business model.

That said, my goal is to build each bike like it’s brand new — the way I would build my personal bike. And that’s exactly what I do.

I build with new, quality aftermarket parts. Always new parts. That’s how I ensure to the best of my ability that you get a quality used motorcycle.

Does that guarantee them issue free every time? Fuck no! These are Harley’s 😂 but it’s a pretty good place to start. And if it's our fault, I got you covered.

My perspective — if you’re a gambling man, and you see something you want, take a chance.

So, ask yourself — is it worth it? Shit... I ask myself that every time I giveaway a bike!
